Stumptown Coffee Roasters
Ace Hotel
First I just passed by this coffee shop on my way to the subway and the next day I must pay a visit as well. The cafe invites you from the street front through the window.
They have a classic wooden counter with a beautiful and unique wave-shaped lighting above.
The place is really crowded, busy during the morning rush. A lot of people come in for a quick takeaway, but if you have time, the historical hotel lobby is also worth a visit and you can enjoy your cup of caffeine there in a more relaxing environment, while admiring the beautiful classical building.
Stumptown Coffee Roasters roast their own coffee and they have more coffee shops in NYC and throughout the USA.
The list of their other cafes is available here:

‘On Labor Day of 2009 we opened our first café in New York in the lobby of our good friends, the Ace Hotel. That space is usually filled with a mix of artists, capitalists, vagabonds, ne’er-do-wells and beautiful people. Don’t miss the incredible architectural details in this turn of the century building.
In addition to a full espresso bar, drip coffee, brew-by-the-cup offerings and cold brew, you can enjoy beverages from Big Easy Bucha and Spirit Tea as well as pastries and sandwiches from Ovenly and Supermoon Bakehouse.’
