Smúz Café
Location: Located in a busy area next to the Parliament, in the immediate vicinity of the Országház, látogatóközpont stop of tram 2, yet still in a calm, quiet environment.
Coffee: They use their own special blend from 42 Coffee in both filter and espresso. They also have playful, funny coffees, such as bubble coffee and other coffee drinks with different colours, spices, and spirits, with which they aim to represent coffee as a lifestyle to everyone in a playful way.
Atmosphere/experience: Youthful, playful, modern design and shapes, centred around the “spot”, which symbolises the egg, since with their dishes they follow the concept of eggs around the world (egg dishes from different countries), and symbolising the spots of their Dalmatian dog.
They try to exchange a few words with every guests and regulars, or as they say, to “smúz”, to mingle in a light conversation.
Story: Smúz was founded in 2014, initially operating as a café and flower shop, but during the renovation in 2024, the café part overtook the place of the flower shop as well. The goal of the renovation was to regain the old classic café atmosphere in a modern form, becoming a meeting place and a regular spot for local cultural and literary life.

‘We are waiting for you on the side of the Parliament, next to the Danube, with a view of the Buda Castle and a truly large terrace. The building itself, with its unadorned elegance, is an iconic piece of the city, and it obliges us to carry forward the style that radiates both luxury and casualness, quality, and a relaxed atmosphere.
From the 1940s, this renowned former café was a gathering spot for the crème de la crème of the Pest citizens and artists. We borrowed our name, Smúz, from that era, when it was synonymous with relaxed conversations, as we aimed to create a meeting place where everyone can feel at ease while enjoying coffee, brunch, or lunch, whether sitting on the bustling terrace or looking out at the beautiful square from behind the café’s windows.’
